our curriculum

Our curriculum is aligned with the requirements of the State of Indiana and exceeds the suggestions outlined by the Curriculum Guide for Lutheran Elementary and Junior High Schools established by the Lutheran Church –Missouri Synod national standards. Graduates are admitted to public high schools throughout our community. Many students go on to attend private high schools such as La Lumiere, Andrean, and Culver Academy in the region.

Graduates from Immanuel do very well as they advance through high school and college. Excellent teachers and curriculum, close supervision, the development of strong study/work habits, a good healthy attitude toward school and self, and their growing faith in God are some reasons for their successes. Click on the button below for a closer look at our curriculum by grade.

fine arts

Music is an important part of Immanuel Lutheran Church & School.
Throughout the course of their career at Immanuel, students experience a music education that seeks not only to prepare
for them for high school, but also to instill in them a love and comprehension of the art of music for the rest of their lives. All students in K-5 participate in choir. In middle school, 6-8th grade students can choose between choir and current events. Immanuel has a unique working relationship with the Valparaiso public school system. Valparaiso public schools send a bus for our students so they can participate with the Valparaiso public school orchestra and band ensembles.
This helps to generate friendships in the public
school prior to transitioning to high school.

Music making at Immanuel Lutheran Church primarily serves to make offerings to God by helping to lead congregational worship. This work is done by the youngest to the oldest singers. art

Kindergarten—8th Grade: Students use many different mediums and techniques to create their own unique artwork.  By learning art principles and concepts, children create beautiful 2D and 3D projects that tie into their core subjects. Students love sketching, drawing, painting and sculpture. They also help to create murals and props for Immanuel’s auctions.

Immanuel Athletics

Immanuel Athletics

We encourage our 5-8 grade students to participate in athletics at Immanuel.  We want them to take a risk, try a new sport, get in shape, discover their strengths, work together on a team, and experience the highs and lows of competition.  All Immanuel sports teams are no-cut; every student who wants to participate is a member of the team.

happy parents

“Not only are Jim and I so grateful for the truly outstanding education our children received at Immanuel Lutheran School
from preschool through the 8th grade, but Jim and I are also so grateful to Immanuel for all the love, support,
and kindness extended to each member of our family for all these years. It has been said that “it takes a
village to raise a child.” I think that is true. For us, Immanuel has been our village, and for that, we
owe you a debt of gratitude. Thank you.”
